I love the burlap, feed sack craze that started a few years ago. Here, in a living room I did for a client, I bought old burlap bags and had them made into pillows. I also had covers made for the pillows out of the curtain fabric for when the client wants a change, but I think these burlap pillows give the room a little trendy edge.
On the other side of her room, for her French chairs, we did lumbar sized pillows out of the burlap bags.
In my own breakfast room, for my Kooboo chairs I opted for reproduction feed sack pillows from Restoration Hardware.
This burlap runner was handmade by Laurie Blaswich, an interior and textile designer who also runs the Etsy shop Bella Inspirations. This dining room was featured in Fifi O’Neil’s book “Romantic Prairie Style” HERE.
At Laurie’s Etsy shop, Bella Inspirations, she sells both old and new things. Items like this feedbag style pillow – perfect for the bed or the sofa. So cute!
She sells vintage pieces – like this beautiful silver vegetable dish. I would use this for a jewelry tray on a vanity.
This numbered hanging basket caught my eye – it would be so cute in the kitchen or the office. I really love Laurie’s Etsy shop Bella Inspirations, so I was thrilled when she offered to do a giveaway!
And here is the giveaway: Bella Inspirations has graciously agreed to give away this beautiful fringed burlap runner. It is pictured in the dining room of the popular blog A Country Farmhouse HERE. This picture shows you can use the burlap runner in a fancy dining room or in a casual breakfast room. So pretty!!
Here is another view of A Country Farmhouse’s dining room, showing the giveaway runner. Such a beautiful room!! The runner is perfect here – linking its color and texture to the seagrass rug and also as a mid range tone between the deep browns and whites. Perfect! A side note - the owners bought that portrait for under a $100 - without a clue as to who it was. It turns out to have been painted from a Life Magazine cover of the mother of actress Angelica Huston and the wife of her father John Huston. Sadly, she died quite young in an automobile accident.
And, the dining room this year at Christmas.
